This is where a lot of people get tripped up. The biggest misconception entering into the Church today is that just by being a good person and that by doing all these good things you have secured your place in heaven. Many churches are changing traditional sermons into contemporary meetings with loud music and a feel good message full of ideas that suggest that we are to purpose driven. Even teaching there are many ways to heaven. How far from the truth!
Matthew 7:21“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Verses 22 and 23 go on to say…….Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
Ephesians 2:9 says “Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
2 Timothy 1:9 says “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”
The Word of God clearly says, that we are to accept that Jesus Christ who is God manifested in Flesh came here to set an example on how to Love, Help Others and Spread his word. We are to accept that God gave his ultimate gift, his son Jesus Christ, who took the final sacrifice for those who have ever lived, currently live and those who are yet to be born. That by believing in him and knowing our sins are forgiven that we only need to come to him and ask. We are to accept that he arose three days later to demonstrate his power and to show us our God is a living God. The best news is by doing all of this is and believing, that one day when our worldly bodies will die, our souls will forever live in the presence of the Lord!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2
The Good News is that you to can have this promise of everlasting life by praying this simple prayer…
Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, I come to you today knowing I am a sinner and the only way to heaven is to accept that Jesus Christ came here and died for my sins that I can be forgiven. I am proclaiming that I believe this with all my heart and ask for Jesus to forgive me and teach me how to become the person God has always meant me to be. In Jesus Name Amen
